Breast augmentation is one of the most consistently requested procedures we arrange, and one where the pre-op consultation matters just as much as the surgery itself — implant choice and placement decisions made before you're even in the operating room shape most of what you'll be happy with a year later.
Silicone vs. saline, and why it's not really a debate anymore
Most reputable clinics today use cohesive silicone gel implants (often called "gummy bear" implants) because they hold their shape more naturally and have a lower rupture-related risk profile than older generations. Confirm the implant is FDA-approved or CE-marked from an established manufacturer — this is one detail worth never compromising on for a lower price.
Above or below the muscle — why it's not just a size question
Submuscular placement (under the pectoral muscle) tends to look more natural for slimmer patients and interferes less with mammogram readings later, while subglandular placement (above the muscle) can suit patients with more natural tissue coverage already. The right choice depends on your anatomy, not a one-size-fits-all recommendation.
The recovery timeline, realistically
Surgery takes 1-2 hours, and most patients fly home within about a week. Expect noticeable swelling for 2-3 weeks, a supportive bra for 4-6 weeks, and full recovery — including a return to normal exercise — by around week 6.
Questions worth asking before you book
- What implant brand and profile do you recommend for my anatomy, and why
- Is the placement above or below the muscle, and what does that mean for me specifically
- What's your revision policy if I want to change size later
