Dental Veneers 101: E-Max, Timelines and Realistic Expectations

Veneers are consistently one of the most requested treatments we arrange — and also one of the most misunderstood. Here's a clear-eyed look at what a veneer procedure actually involves, before you book a same-week smile makeover.

E-max vs. zirconia: it's not just a price difference

E-max (lithium disilicate) veneers offer the most natural, translucent look and are the standard choice for front teeth. Zirconia is stronger and better suited to back teeth or patients who grind heavily at night. A clinic that offers only one material for every case isn't tailoring treatment to you.

The realistic timeline

  • Day 1: Digital smile design consultation and shade selection
  • Day 2-3: Minimal tooth preparation and temporary veneers fitted
  • Lab fabrication: 2-4 days depending on case complexity
  • Final fitting and bite adjustment: usually one appointment
  • Total time in-country: typically 5-7 days

What veneers won't fix

Veneers correct shape, colour, minor gaps and chipping — they don't correct significant misalignment or bite problems, which need orthodontics first. A responsible dentist tells you this upfront rather than veneering over a problem that needs a different fix.

Why the price gap is so large

The materials (Ivoclar e-max, IPS ceramics) are the same brands used in US and UK clinics. The price difference — often 70%+ lower — comes from lab and technician costs, not from cutting corners on materials.
