What actually gets treated is different, not just the age group
LASIK reshapes the cornea, the clear front surface of the eye. RLE instead replaces the eye's natural lens entirely with an artificial one — the same core procedure used in cataract surgery, just performed before a cataract has developed. This is why RLE can correct vision problems that corneal-based procedures like LASIK can't, including presbyopia (age-related close-up focusing loss) and higher levels of long-sightedness.
Why premium lens choice actually matters more than the surgery itself
Once your natural lens is replaced, the artificial lens you choose determines your vision for the rest of your life. Trifocal lenses correct near, intermediate and distance vision simultaneously, aiming for genuine glasses independence at every distance, while simpler monofocal lenses correct only one distance well. This decision deserves real discussion, not a default recommendation.
The recovery timeline, realistically
Each eye takes about 20 minutes, usually done a few days apart, with most patients planning around 4 days in-country total. Vision typically stabilises within a few days, and normal daily activities resume almost immediately — this is one of the fastest-recovering procedures we arrange.
The screening step that actually matters most
